With a view to deliberate on the current business and management problems of Nepal and the region, SAIM has initiated “SAIM Lecture Series”, a guest speaker series in which leaders and experts are invited to deliver a lecture to the students, faculty and special invitees on issues in management, business and economics. Mr. Ken Ohashi, Country Director of World Bank, Kathmandu, delivered the very first lecture of the Lecture Series on Corporate Governance in Nepal on May 11, 2007. This was followed by a lecture on Capital Account Convertibility by Prof. Dr. Bishwambher Pyakuryal, Central Department of Economics, Tribhuvan University and Mr. Alexander Pitt, resident representative, International Monetary Fund, Kathmandu in July 2007. This was followed by a lecture by Dr. Ifzal Ali, Chief Economist of the Asian Development Bank, Philippines on “Inequality and the Imperative for Inclusive Growth in South Asia” in September 2007. SAIM frequently invites guest lecturers to share their opinion and experience with the students at the institutes.
